Entries to the L$300,000 MachinimUWA IV close on the 10th of November and looks for the creation of machinima featuring artworks that are part of the UWA 3D Open Art Challenge.

In Hypatia's words:

"Tam Lin" meets Finnish love song where I've changed both for my own story. Another contribution to MachinUWA IV which focuses on Soror Nishi's enchanted trees, with tributes as well to Briawinde Magic, Bryn Oh, Cherry Manga, Rebeca Bashley and Scottius Polke.

I was enchanted by the song by Laura Ryhanen featured on Simon V's Digital Christmas Album. The story does not represent the lyrics... entirely. And it finds something sinister in a region that isn't. But I heard in the song something more ominous than its short lines relate, and put everything together in a magic tree. ;)

My poetic rendition of the song, with the help of Quark and Andrew:

I, a maiden, sing and pray
For you the last verse that I say.
Love sends many to the grave
If the one you love you cannot have.

  1. Mesmerizing and painterly. The story basics are compelling and makes me wish to see a longer movie version. I felt the emotion surging through it as well.

All great loves should be unrequited. Don't you think?

  2. Thanks so much for your kind words, Cecil. I'm so glad the emotion came through. I think all great loves involve a sacrifice. I decided to make this one take its toll, and at the last minute I threw out the clip of the couple embracing, like it's all going to be alright after what happened.

Lol! yeah... I wish I could have made it longer. But the song ended. I'll need a longer song. ;)

  3. As usual, the graphically superior video is on Vimeo, along with a typo corrected. AARGH! and after 3 uploads (I hope the judges look at that one).
